L. Thomas Wolff Scholarship Application Instructions
Application Deadline for 2021 Award: May 15th, 2021
The L. Thomas Wolff, M.D. Scholarship is a competitive annual award for high school seniors, college students, or non-traditional learners in good standing who have completed one or more Central New York Area Health Education Center (“CNYAHEC”) programs, like MASH Camp, HealthQuest, or the MedLab Job Shadowing. Scholarship selection criteria is based on academic achievement, community engagement, career plan, character, and personal (summary) statement.
- be enrolled in a medical or health professions training program in the Fall 2020 semester
- be residents of Broome, Cayuga, Chemung, Chenango, Cortland, Herkimer, Madison, Oneida, Onondaga, Oswego, Schuyler, Seneca, Tioga, or Tompkins counties
The scholarship recipient will be provided a monetary award determined by the CNYAHEC Board of Directors based on funding availability. Past awards have averaged one thousand dollars.
This award has been established to honor Dr. Wolff, a long-time local family physician, educator, and a co-founder of the New York State Area Health Education Center System (AHEC). We encourage all those who feel they may qualify to submit an application.
Visit http://www.cnyahec.org/scholarship/apply/ to complete the application. Three personal and/or professional letters of references are required with your submission. CNYAHEC must also receive an official transcript by the deadline. The transcript can either be uploaded to your application or emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Individual applications, reference letters, and school transcripts will be reviewed and scored competitively by the CNYAHEC Board of Directors. Recipients will be notified on or around June 8th, 2021.
The award is typically presented at the Central New York Area Health Education Center’s annual luncheon; however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic the luncheon may be canceled. If the luncheon is not held, the award and scholarship amount will be mailed to the recipient.
