The Health Resources Services Administration (HRSA) is an agency of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. It is the primary federal agency for improving health care to people who are geographically isolated, economically or medically vulnerable.
HRSA supports the training of health professionals, the distribution of providers to areas where they are needed most, and improvements in health care delivery. Through HRSA’s Bureau of Health Workforce, a number of loans and scholarships are offered to:
- Primary care providers who practice in areas with limited access to care
- Individuals from a disadvantaged background who want to pursue a career as a faculty member in a health professions school
- Health care professions students
- Nurses who practice in areas with limited access to care
